The metalcore band Dawn of Extinction wanted to renew its image. They needed something expressive and a powerfull icon that suits a wide range of purposes.

In two weeks and working completely on remote, the team – by using Design Thinking methodology – had to put on the table ideas to update such a traditional sector.

Stage I:

The ideation stage started by checking logos of some of the bigger bands in the genre, in order to get infused by its visual style and features. We needed that somehow the logotype gave enough information to the potential listener about the musical sub-genere, always keeping it in ballance with the search for individual personality.

We tried to identify the sub-genere mannerisms so we could find the better direction.
